Water Pump Controller Upgrade

Southern California 2025 Diesel fire pump

A municipal water district needed to replace a legacy Murphy controller on its diesel emergency fire pump - outdated, hard to support and a long-term reliability risk. SDP removed the existing panel and installed a new SDP-supplied control system built around a Deep Sea DSE E800, the same platform already standardized at other district pump locations.

Data Center

Six SEL-700G Protective Relays - New Install

San Diego, CA 2025 6 × MAN / Marathon CHP

A San Diego data center expanded on-site generation with a new cogeneration plant of six MAN engines paired with Marathon generator packages. Because the facility supports critical infrastructure, ownership required comprehensive fault detection, coordination and long-term reliability - so SDP installed and programmed an SEL-700G on each generator.

Utility

Controls and Emissions System Upgrades

Southern California 2024 7 × Waukesha 7044

Seven Waukesha 7044 engines were running on outdated, unsupported Encorp and 2301A controls. SDP replaced the entire suite with modern Woodward and WAGO equipment to eliminate obsolescence and let the plant safely carry more building load - reducing reliance on grid power and avoiding peak utility rates.

Generator Control System Modernization

Southern California 2024 Basler DEC-250 / Woodward 2301

San Diego Power completed a control system modernization at a utility generation plant focused on improving generator stability, reactive power support and overall reliability during high-demand operation. SDP installed new Basler DEC-250 digital generator controllers alongside Woodward 2301 speed controllers to tighten voltage regulation, sharpen engine response and stabilize load across the plant - letting the facility operate at a lower targeted power factor for better kVAR support during peak demand events.

Industrial

Full Engine Overhaul - Waukesha 7044

Southern California 2024 Waukesha 7044

Routine oil sampling on a Waukesha 7044 came back with elevated metal content; further inspection confirmed shavings from a failed bearing. Because bearing material had circulated through the engine, SDP performed a full overhaul to prevent further damage and restore reliability before catastrophic failure.
